Day 25.
(Teresa)
I awoke at 12:25 am. We were sleeping under an outside light, so it was as bright as day. I fell asleep at 9:30 so at least I got at least one sleep cycle.
I check the phone every hour and at 3 am, I finally took the long walk to the tennis court bathroom.
At 5:30 I sadly packed my bag and my bike into the gear truck and rode with Alida in the RV.
We had to stop several times up the pass to let the engine cool down and made a final stop at the top of the seven mile climb.
We arrived at the West Grand High School in Kremmling at 1:00 pm. No one else was there yet. When the gear truck arrived, I started to help unload, but was soon told to stop due to my laboured breathing and coughing.
(Paul)
It was 6:45 when I left Craig. Craig was in a shallow valley that we had to climb out of. The landscape gradually changed from rolling hills to craggy rock face canyons. After stopping to visit Cory, I rode with Andy Heimstra. He is fast and I kept up but got really tired. We cycled into Steamboat Springs where we met up with Bert Slofstra. We rode through town and found a place to stop for coffee. Steamboat Springs is a very pleasant looking town that I would like to come back to some day to spend some time exploring. The climb to Rabbit Ear pass took me an hour and 52 minutes to get to the false summit. The actual pass was another 5 miles beyond that. This was one of 3 times we are going to cross the continental divide. The downhill was busy and not always smooth. The road was narrow in places and its amazing no one was hurt. The route was generally downhill but there were a few climbs that I was not prepared for because I had stopped spinning. It was a Kremmling and to the south snow capped mountains could be seen between intermitent showers.
