Day 15.
We left Boise this morning just as traffic was starting to move for the new work day. Thankfully, we are on the edge of town. Apparently, Boise is in a valley that you can't quite see until you are leaving and climbing out of it. We had to avoid the interstate for the first part of the ride and this led us out into the countryside adding an additional 18km to the ride. There was a steep climb out of town and then we were on a very deserted roadway that had a correctional facility with razor wire fences. Why? if the prisoners escaped, they would have nowhere to go.
We turned left past that and if we hadn't, the road went on forever until it disappeared into the haze in the distance. So glad we didn't take that one. The wind was a little in our face and at our sides and we headed back to I-84. We passed two gun clubs/shooting ranges.
Upon entering the interstate for a 11km ride, the wind was at our backs. We were climbing but it didn't feel like it. It was fun. At the exit there was a truck stop that many cyclists stopped at. Well, the ones on diets drove on, though. We had a piece of carrot cake and a bottomless cup of coffee. Very good.
The remainder of the ride was with the wind mostly at our backs as well. The directions were a little sketchy going into town. The directions called for a left instead of a right, but we all made it into camp alright. We got into camp shortly before noon.
The Mountain Home Junior High School is about 10 years old and very nice. The sprinklers came on just after supper was served and one of the cooks (Rose) felt like running through the sprinkler. She was the only one though.
The facilities we have been staying at have been excellent. No cold showers to date (knock wood).
