Day 20.

(Teresa and Paul)
Started our day at 5:00 with no sleep due to the trains, highway nearby and the anticipation of a long day as sweep team for the day. We got out of the tent at 5:07 and there were a lot of people already up and the breakfast and lunch supplies were already out. Some of the young'ns were almost ready to go.
The ride into Salt Lake was slow and long and the route was different due to construction.
We stopped at First CRC and had some beverages and fixed Teresa's tire which was about to burst.
We left the church and almost immediately had a 12% grade for a block. We almost turned back.
When we reached the top, the church was there, still waiting and they had snacks, beverages and even a misting pump that Teresa enjoyed thoroughly. The ride down was spectacular along a reservoir.
BUT!, the second hill was a killer. We were on I-80 and it was hot and long. Even the trucks, campers and cars had difficulty as evidenced by the dead vehicles along the route. The highway was freshly paved and seemed soft. The climb was steeper and 15km longer than the first.
We got off the highway and had some great downhills and finally met up with Walter, our SAG driver. We had watemelon with some of the young'ns.
We had an additional 30km to do after that.
We pulled into camp at 8:20 only to find that we had a mile long hike to get to where we were going to set up camp. It was another mile in the opposite direction to get to the showers. We got a ride from one of the local church members who were camping there. They brought us to the far side of the camp where we would not have to wait. And we didn't. It was a nice hot shower.
After eating, showering and tent setup etc., we were finally able to settle down for the night at 10:40.
Long Day!
